Secure Computer Disposal puts your data on Ice
To Insure all Hard Drives are Sanitized to the U.S. Government standards, we use the following approved secure process:

Data destruction of private and confidential information is crucial to citizens as well as organizations. Current Government regulations and company reputations require that retired computers and data be handled in a secure manner. Secure Computer Disposal and Recycling will sanitize all data including programs, operating systems and stored data upon independent equipment start up. If a machine or hard drive fails to power up, the hard drive is removed and physically destroyed.

Secure Computer Disposal and Recycling Secure Data Erasure Overview:
  • When a PC is received, all asset tags, labels or any other identifying marking are removed. For internal tracking purposes, it is labeled with an bar code and scanned into our system.
  • The computer is then cold booted from a specially prepared CD-ROM, that will automatically securely erase all data on all the hard drive(s) to the specification of the US Department of Defense* without any interaction from the technician.
  • If required the storage medium is removed from the computer and exposed to a powerful electrical magnet and then physically destroyed.
  • Upon completion of this process, the client is sent a Certificate of Data Destruction that certifies that the computer was sanitized and all data is unrecoverable.
  • The computer or equipment then goes to our testing division for evaluation of the individual parts.
  • Parts that pass our testing process are sent to our refurbishing division, where the systems or equipment are  rebuilt and upgraded, if appropriate. It is our to goal to provide at least 75% of the refurbished computers or equipment to nonprofit organizations, schools or people in need at a substantial savings.
Verifications:
Secure Computer Disposal randomly checks to ensure that no data can ever be recovered from the hard drives we process. We periodically send samples to our data recovery department to verify that our process meets our standards.
* US Government - For clearing and sanitizing standard DoD 5220.22-M recommends the approach overwrite all addressable locations with a character, its complement, then a random character and verify for clearing and sanitizing information on writable media
